Ordinary notes sit readable in browser storage on your device. For recovery phrases, medical secrets, or private journals, the Vault seals every byte with military-grade client-side encryption.
Your password is key-stretched through 600,000 PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 iterations. Notes are sealed with AES-GCM-256 before touching storage.
Titles, full note body, attached tags, workspace color choices, and pinned states are all encrypted together as a single opaque cipher bundle.
Auto-locks after 15 minutes of inactivity, 5 minutes in background/hidden tab, and instantly on page reload. Keys are erased from memory.
If your Pro or Max license ever lapses or moves, your existing Vault is never wiped. It remains in read-only mode: you can always unlock with your password, read your notes, export encrypted backups, and delete data whenever you wish.
Cross-Device Handoff
Traditional sync leaves breadcrumbs on remote servers. Private Transfer creates an ephemeral, encrypted bridge between devices that self-destructs immediately after receipt.
Your note (or library) is converted into a cipher bundle using a cryptographically generated 3-word triplet (>1 billion combinations).
The relay server sees only unreadable ciphertext. It holds the bundle for a maximum of 5 minutes or self-destructs the millisecond it is downloaded.
Receiving writes the decrypted note directly to the recipient's local IndexedDB. No persistent tunnel or tracking cookies remain.

Sulata Note is built on a single, non-negotiable principle: your notes stay on your device, and we have zero access to their contents. All notes, markdown content, tags, folder references, color choices, and Recycle Bin items are stored exclusively in your browser's local IndexedDB. We run no central database storing user text.
This marketing website (sulatanote.com) stores your light/dark appearance preference in localStorage (key: sulata-theme). It runs no general behavioral analytics, fingerprinting, profiling, or unrelated trackers. For affiliate purchase attribution, sulatanote.com loads LemonSqueezy's official affiliate script using store slug sulatanote. Sulata.app does not perform affiliate tracking.
Vault note titles, body content, tags, colors, and pin state are encrypted locally via PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 (600,000 iterations) and AES-GCM-256 before storage. Sulata Note never stores, logs, or transmits your Vault password. If lost, encrypted notes cannot be recovered by anyone.
Private Transfer is an end-to-end encrypted handoff between your devices. Only encrypted blobs reach the relay. The bundle self-destructs immediately upon first download or after 5 minutes (TTL). Rate limiting uses irreversible hashed IP counters purged within one hour.
Free tier is perpetually free. Pro ($24 one-time) grants simultaneous activation on up to 5 devices. Max ($32 one-time) grants activation on up to 10 devices and includes the exclusive Prismatic Aurora avatar badge. Both paid licenses include all future premium updates.
If a paid license becomes inactive, existing Vault data is preserved in read-only mode (allowing unlock, read, export, and deletion). You are responsible for regular JSON and encrypted Vault backups.
